Jigsaw Finance partners with Evertreen to plant a tree for every deal

We’ve teamed up with Evertreen to plant a tree in Madagascar for every finance deal we arrange, supporting the farmers and community who plant and protect them.

Every day, our team helps people across the UK into their next car, van or bike. Now each of those deals leaves something growing thousands of miles away.

Jigsaw Finance is now a partner of Evertreen, which connects businesses with tree planting projects around the world. The idea is simple: one deal, one tree. The more customers we help, the more trees go in the ground, so the forest grows as we do.

Why we're doing it

We’ve grown quickly, and in 2026 we were named in the Sunday Times 100. Growth like that comes with a responsibility to do our bit. We’ve always been big on treating people right, and this felt like a natural next step: a way for every deal we arrange to help someone else too.

Where our trees grow

Our trees are planted in the Vohidahy valley in central-east Madagascar, through a project run by the Italian non-profit Tsiryparma.

This isn’t somewhere you stumble across. Reaching the valley means an 18-kilometre motorbike ride along a dirt track, and life there runs to the rhythm of the rainy season and the harvest. The commune sits around 1,000 metres up, on the edge of Fandriana-Marolambo National Park, and is known locally for its waterfalls, rock pools, caves and the source of the Mananjary River.

Above all, it’s home to a rare surviving block of natural highland forest. Madagascar is often called the eighth continent: it holds more than 200,000 species, and around 70 percent of them are found nowhere else on Earth. In Vohidahy’s forest you’ll find lemurs in the canopy, Madagascar rosewood, and tsiperyfery, a wild pepper that grows only on the island and has found its way into European kitchens.

The forest belongs to the people who live beside it. Two local community groups hold the rights to manage it, handed over by the Malagasy government in 2003 and 2006, and around 11,000 people across eight villages have chosen to keep it standing.

Something Important

“Our customers trust us with something important, and that trust is why we’ve grown. We wanted that growth to count for something beyond our own business. Knowing that every deal plants a tree, and supports a community working hard to protect its forest, is something the whole team can be proud of.”

Alex Hurst, Joint Managing Director, Jigsaw Finance

What the forest is up against

Much of Madagascar’s forest has already been lost, and in Vohidahy the pressures are easy to see. Burn scars mark where a family has cleared a patch with fire to plant rice, a practice known locally as tavy. After a few years the soil is exhausted and the farming moves on to the next patch.

Dark stumps show where rosewood has been felled illegally for timber markets in the cities. Hidden stills turn sugarcane into toaka gasy, a local rum, and sugarcane is the best-paying cash crop in the region, so it keeps creating demand for cleared land. Lemurs are still hunted for meat.

Every one of these is illegal, and every one pays better than the alternatives. That’s the real challenge, and it’s why the project focuses as much on people’s livelihoods as it does on trees.

The people behind the project

This isn’t a project managed from an office on another continent. It’s led on the ground by Nicola Gandolfi, an Italian forester who researched Madagascar rosewood in Vohidahy for his university thesis in 2005 and 2006, and has worked in Madagascar ever since. He co-founded Tsiryparma in 2011 to carry on that work, and today lives in Madagascar full-time with his family.

He works alongside a small team of local technicians and, crucially, the villagers themselves. Twenty-two residents, two from each village plus six team leaders, make up the forest guardians. Every month they spend around five days walking the forest, recording illegal logging and burning, and talking to their neighbours about why the forest is worth more standing. Twice a year, agents from the regional forestry office join them for longer eight-day missions. Between them, they look after more than 8,000 hectares.

The project’s reach goes beyond the forest, too. The village hospital was rebuilt and reopened in 2022, so the area’s 11,000 residents no longer have to travel to the nearest town for care. Tsiryparma also runs three nursery schools, and a sponsorship programme covers school costs for 22 children.

What gets planted

Every tree starts life in a local nursery. Tsiryparma runs around 40 of them across Vohidahy and the surrounding countryside, and since 2018 they’ve raised more than 80,000 seedlings, around 80 percent of them grown in its own nurseries rather than bought in.

The Vohidahy nursery was set up in 2008 with one main goal: growing more Madagascar rosewood, the precious native tree most at risk from illegal logging. Today the network grows more than 20 species. Some, like acacia, help improve tired soil. Others, like mango, citrus, avocado, baobab and moringa, are planted on farmers’ land, so the trees benefit the families who look after them as well as greening the valley.

Our part, and yours

For us, this is about doing our bit as a business. Our support helps fund the people who raise the seedlings, plant them and look after them as they grow, creating paid work for local farmers.

It also means that when you arrange your car, van or bike finance through Jigsaw, you’re giving something back too. There’s nothing extra for you to do. It’s simply part of how we do business.

Celebrating Our Sunday Times 100 Place

Last week, James Weir and Alex Hurst represented Jigsaw Finance at The Sunday Times 100 awards ceremony. It was a night that belonged to the whole team.

In June, we shared the news that Jigsaw Finance had been ranked 69th in The Sunday Times 100, the league table of Britain’s fastest-growing private companies. Last week, our Co-Owners James Weir and Alex Hurst attended the official awards ceremony to mark the achievement in person, alongside the leaders of the other businesses on this year’s list.

Seeing your name on a list is one thing. Being in the room with the other businesses that earned their place is another. It was a chance to stop, look back on how far Jigsaw Finance has come, and feel proud of what we’ve achieved.

A proud moment for Jigsaw

“Being at the ceremony made it feel real,” said Alex Hurst. “When James and I took on the business in 2023, we believed in what Jigsaw could become. To be recognised among the fastest-growing companies in the country is something we’re incredibly proud of, and it’s a reflection of everyone who is part of the team.”

Thank you to the whole team

Whilst James and Alex were in attendance as Co-Owners, they strongly feel this is one for the entire team to feel proud of.

From the front-line sales team who speak to customers and dealers every day, to the back-office teams who keep everything running behind the scenes. Every person in the business has played a part in getting us here. As a remote-first business, our people show up for each other and for our customers every day, wherever they’re working from.

What comes next

Jigsaw has grown quickly over the last three years, and we intend to keep growing. How we grow matters just as much as the actual growth.

“We want to keep building on this, but never at the expense of how we treat people,” said James Weir. “Great service and doing the right thing by our customers and dealers are what got us here. They’ll stay at the heart of everything we do as we grow.”

To everyone at Jigsaw Finance: thank you. This recognition is yours.

Jigsaw Finance is delighted to announce a new partnership with Macclesfield FC.

The vehicle finance specialists, named in this year’s Sunday Times 100 list of Britain’s fastest-growing private companies, have agreed terms with the Silkmen to become a valued club sponsor for the upcoming 2026/27 Enterprise National League North campaign.

The companies strapline, Driven by Care, Built on Trust, is not marketing speak but a description of how the business operates. Care shows in the way the team treat every dealer and customer, and trust comes from doing what they say they will do.

Since co-owners James Weir and Alex Hurst acquired the business in 2023, Jigsaw Finance have grown at pace, opening offices in Macclesfield and Oldham and becoming a neighbour of the Club in the process.

What began as proximity has developed into a working relationship, and now an official partnership.

As part of the deal, Jigsaw will take a large advertising space on London Road, along with a pitch-side board, match day hospitality in our VIP Lounge, a permanent feature in our Sponsors Directory and monthly access to our Business Networking Events.

Jigsaw Finance’s Managing Director, Alex Hurst, said:

“This partnership means a lot to me on a personal level. I was a Macc FC fan growing up and have great memories of watching the Silkmen back in the 1990s, so becoming an official partner of the Club years later is a proud moment. Since James and I took over Jigsaw, Macclesfield has become home for the business, and there’s no side we’d rather be getting behind. We’re looking forward to getting started and supporting the Club right through the season ahead.”

Silkmen Deputy CEO Bob Trafford said:

”I would like to welcome Jigsaw Finance to the Football Club and thank them for the superb commitment that they have shown in agreeing this partnership. I would particularly like to thank Alex Hurst for his role in this and look forward to seeing our relationship evolve over the course of the season.”

Sunday Times 100

Jigsaw Finance earns recognition in The Sunday Times 100, Britain’s fastest-growing private companies.

We’ve always believed that sustainable growth comes from doing the fundamentals well. Investing in technology. Supporting our dealer partners. Building the right team. And creating the operational capability needed to scale.

Now, that growth has been recognised with Jigsaw Finance’s inclusion in the prestigious The Sunday Times 100, Britain’s fastest-growing private companies.

Since acquiring the business in 2023, co-owners Alex Hurst and James Weir have overseen a period of significant growth.

Increased lending volumes by 414%, expanded our team by 146% and continued to grow our network of dealer partners across the UK.

Investment in Technology, People and Operations

The growth has been driven by investment in technology, operations and dealer relationships, alongside the expansion of our dealer network across the UK.

A key part of that investment has been the development of Artis, Jigsaw Finance’s proprietary technology platform.

Artis connects dealerships with a broad panel of lenders and key industry systems, helping make the vehicle finance process quicker and more efficient for dealers and customers.

You can learn more about How We Work and the approach behind our technology and operations here.

Built Around Dealers

Founded in 2000, we’ve spent more than 25 years helping dealers offer vehicle finance to their customers through Jigsaw Finance’s Dealer Finance Products.

Today, we work with a nationwide network of dealerships alongside a growing Consumer Vehicle Products channel, helping customers access finance across a broad range of circumstances and vehicle types.

While the business has grown significantly, our focus remains the same: delivering high service standards, building long-term relationships and making vehicle finance straightforward for dealers and customers alike.

Future Growth and Expansion Plans

Commenting on the milestone, co-owner of Jigsaw Finance Alex Hurst said:

“Growth has come from focusing on the fundamentals. We’ve invested in technology, strengthened our relationships with dealers and lenders and built the operational capability needed to scale.

“Being recognised in the Sunday Times 100 reflects the hard work, commitment and expertise of our team over the last few years. It’s an important milestone for us, but our focus remains firmly on building on that momentum and continuing to grow.”

The motor finance market has faced its share of challenges

Many brokers rely on third-party systems, whereas we’ve invested heavily in our own platform and the infrastructure behind it.

James Weir, co-owner of Jigsaw Finance, added:

“Artis gives us greater control over the customer and dealer journey, helping us process applications more efficiently, improve approval outcomes and support our dealer partners at scale.

“We see significant opportunities ahead. We’ll continue investing in technology, people and operations to strengthen our position in the market.”

As Jigsaw Finance continues to grow, we remain focused on investing in technology, operational capability and dealer relationships to support the next stage of our development.
